The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Compassionate. 1 Hath taught the Qur'an. 2 He created man. 3 He hath taught him utterance. 4 The sun and the moon [move] by precise calculation, 5 And the herbs and the trees - both (alike) prostrate in adoration. 6 And the heaven He has raised high, and He has set up the Balance. 7 So that none may err against the scales, 8 and weigh with justice, and skimp not in the Balance.) 9 And He appointed the earth for the creatures. 10 Therein is fruit and palm trees having sheaths [of dates] 11 And grain covered with husk, and fragrant flowers. 12 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 13 He created man from clay like that of earthenware. 14 And created jinn from the flame of fire. 15 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 16 He is Lord of the two easts and Lord of the two wests. 17 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 18 He has given freedom to the two great bodies of water, so that they might meet: 19 In-between the twain is a barrier which they pass not. 20 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 21 Out of them both come out pearl and coral. 22 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 23 His are the ships displayed upon the sea, like banners. 24 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 25
