The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 On thrones decorated, 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 and flowing water 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 And made them virgins, 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
