The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By those who drag forth to destruction, 1 By the angels who release with gentle release. 2 And [by] those who glide [as if] swimming 3 Then press forward as in a race, 4 by those that direct an affair! 5 The day the convulsive (first blast) shatters convulsively 6 And the following event will come after it. 7 Many a heart will flutter on that day! 8 Their eyes humbled. 9 They say: shall we indeed be restored to the first state, 10 even though we may have become [a heap of] crumbling bones?" 11 and they say, "That indeed would be a losing return." 12 It will only be a single blast, 13 And suddenly they will be [alert] upon the earth's surface. 14 Has there reached you the story of Moses? - 15 Recall what time his Lord called unto him in the holy vale of Tuwa. 16 [saying], "Go to Pharaoh, he has exceeded all bounds, 17 "And say to him, 'Wouldst thou that thou shouldst be purified (from sin)?- 18 Then I will guide you to your Lord that you may come to fear Him.'" 19 Moses showed him the great sign, 20 But [Pharaoh] gave him the lie and rebelliously rejected [all guidance,] 21 Further, he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). 22 And he gathered [his people] and called out 23 Saying: "I am your lord, most high", 24 So God seized him with the chastisement of the Last World and the First. 25 Indeed in that is a warning for whoever would fear [Allah]. 26
