Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Ha'. Mim. 1 By the clear Book, 2 We have made it an Arabic Quran so that you may understand. 3 And verily, it is in the Mother of the Book, in Our Presence, high (in dignity), full of wisdom. 4 So shall We divert the advice away from you, because you are a nation that exceeds the limits? 5 We have sent many a prophet to earlier peoples 6 And never came there a prophet to them but they mocked him. 7 and so, [in the end,] We destroyed them [even though they were] of greater might than these: and the [very] image of those people of old became a thing of the past. 8 And if you should ask them, "Who has created the heavens and the earth?" they would surely say, "They were created by the Exalted in Might, the Knowing." 9 He it is Who made this earth for you a cradle and made in it pathways for you that you may find the way to your destination; 10 And who sends down rain from the sky in measured amounts, and We revive thereby a dead land - thus will you be brought forth - 11 And He it is who has created all opposites. And He [it is who] has provided for you all those ships and animals whereon you ride, 12 that you may be seated on their backs and then remember your Lord's blessing when you are seated on them, and say, 'Glory be to Him, who has subjected this to us, and we ourselves were not equal to it; 13 And surely to our Lord we must return. 14 Yet they have assigned to Him a part of His own servants! Man is dearly unthankful. 15
