The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
CONSIDER those [stars] that rise only to set, 1 By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed); 2 And those who glide swimmingly, 3 Then outpace the others swiftly 4 and thus they fulfil the [Creator's] behest! 5 On the Day, the shiverer shivers 6 and the second blast follows it, 7 hearts will be throbbing, 8 [and] their eyes downcast... 9 They say, "What? shall we be brought back to life, 10 After having turned to carious bones?" 11 They say: “That will then be a return with a great loss!” 12 It will be only one scaring shout, 13 and behold, they are awakened. 14 Have you heard the story of Moses? 15 How his Lord called him in the holy vale of Tuwa, 16 and directed him: “Go to Pharaoh, he has rebelled, 17 And say to him: "Would you purify yourself (from the sin of disbelief by becoming a believer)", 18 [If so,] then I shall guide thee towards [a cognition of] thy Sustainer, so that [henceforth] thou wilt stand in awe [of Him].'" 19 So he showed him the mighty sign. 20 Yet he belied and disobeyed. 21 Then he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). 22 then he mustered 23 and proclaimed, "I am your supreme Lord," 24 Allah therefore seized him, in the punishment of this world and the Hereafter. 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). 26
