The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, 7 shall be called to an easy accounting, 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 he shall call for destruction 11 but he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 Truly, did he think that he would not have to return (to Us)! 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 And the night and that which it drives on, 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 Why, when the Quran is recited to them, do they not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
