Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Shocker (Al-Qaare'ah) before The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ No! I swear by the Day of Resurrection. 1 And I swear by the self-reproaching soul. 2 Does man think that We cannot assemble his bones? 3 Yes indeed; We have the power to remould even his finger-tips. 4 In fact, people want to have eternal life in this world. 5 'When will the Day of Resurrection be' he asks, 6 But when the sight is dazed 7 And the moon will be eclipsed. 8 And the sun and the moon are joined, 9 That Day will Man say: "Where is the refuge?" 10 No! There is no refuge! 11 With thy Sustainer, on that Day, the journey's end will be! 12 On that Day man will be informed of what he sent forward (of his evil or good deeds), and what he left behind (of his good or evil traditions). 13 But lo, man is well aware of himself, 14 even though he offers his excuses. 15 Do not move your tongue with it (the Revelation) to hasten it. 16 It is for Us to collect it and to promulgate it: 17 So when We have recited it [through Gabriel], then follow its recitation. 18 The exposition of its meaning surely rests on Us. 19 Human beings certainly do not want to pay much attention to the Quran. In fact, they love the worldly life 20 and leave be the Hereafter. 21 How many faces will be refulgent on that Day, 22 Looking at their Lord. 23 And some faces, that Day, will be Basirah (dark, gloomy, frowning, and sad), 24 Knowing that they will be subjected to a torment that breaks the backs. 25 Nay; when a man's soul reaches up to the throat, 26 and it is said, 'Who is an enchanter?' 27 and he thinks that it is the parting 28 And leg will be joined with another leg (shrouded) 29 upon that day unto thy Lord shall be the driving. 30
