The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Praise be to God. He has sent the Book to His servant and has made it a flawless guide (for human beings) 1 A just Book, to warn of Allah’s severe punishment, and to give glad tidings to the believers who do good deeds, that for them is an excellent reward. 2 wherein they will remain [in a state of bliss] forever. 3 And to warn those who say, "God has taken to Himself a son." 4 Surely, of this they have no knowledge, neither they nor their fathers; it is a monstrous word that comes from their mouths, they say nothing but a lie. 5 Yet it may be, if they believe not in this statement, that thou (Muhammad) wilt torment thy soul with grief over their footsteps. 6 Surely We have made whatever is on the earth an embellishment for it, so that We may try them (as to) which of them is best in works. 7 but We shall reduce all this to barren waste. 8 Or dost thou think the Men of the Cave and Er-Rakeem were among Our signs a wonder? 9 When the youths took refuge in the Cave saying, 'Our lord, give us mercy from Thee, and furnish us with rectitude in our affair.' 10 We lulled them to sleep in that cave for a number of years 11 and thereafter We revived them to find out which of the two parties could best calculate the length of their stay. 12
