۞ And indeed We bestowed aforetime on Ibrahim (Abraham) his (portion of) guidance, and We were Well-Acquainted with him (as to his Belief in the Oneness of Allah, etc.). 51 When he said unto his father and his folk: What are these images unto which ye pay devotion? 52 They said: We found our fathers worshippers of them. 53 He said, "Both you and your fathers have certainly been in error." 54 They said: "Are you expressing your true ideas before us or are you jesting?" 55 'No' he answered, 'your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, the Originator of them, and I am among those bearing witness to it. 56 Abraham said to himself, "By God! I will devise a plan against their idols when they are away." 57 So he made them into fragments, except a large one among them, that they might return to it [and question]. 58 'Who has done this to our gods' they exclaimed. 'He must surely be a harmdoer' 59 They said, 'We heard a young man making mention of them, and he was called Abraham.' 60 They said, “Therefore bring him in front of the people, perhaps they may testify.” 61 They said, 'So, art thou the man who did this unto our gods, Abraham?' 62 He answered, "Rather this biggest one of them did it. Ask them, if they can speak." 63 Thereupon they realized their own foolishness and said, "We ourselves are wrong-doers". 64 Then were they confounded with shame: (they said), "Thou knowest full well that these (idols) do not speak!" 65 (Abraham) said, "Do ye then worship, besides Allah, things that can neither be of any good to you nor do you harm? 66 Fie on you and those you worship besides God! Will you not understand?" 67 They said, "Burn him and protect your gods, If ye do (anything at all)!" 68 We said: "O fire, become coolness and safety for Abraham." 69 They had sought to do him harm, but We frustrated them. 70 We saved him and Lot, and brought them to the land which We had blessed for all the worlds. 71 We bestowed Isaac and then Jacob on him as an additional boon and We made all of them righteous. 72 We made them leaders who guided people by Our command. We revealed to them the doing of good, observance of prayer and the giving of alms and Us alone did they worship. 73 And to Lut, too, We gave Judgment and Knowledge, and We saved him from the town which practised abominations: truly they were a people given to Evil, a rebellious people. 74 We admitted him to Our Mercy, he was among the righteous. 75
