Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the swift scatterers 1 by the clouds which are heavily loaded with water, 2 And the ships that glide with ease. 3 And those that distribute and apportion by Command;- 4 Verily the promise made to you is true: 5 And the judgment must most surely come about. 6 By the heaven containing pathways, 7 You are surely caught in contradictions., 8 Turned aside therefrom is who is turned aside. 9 Doomed are the conjecturers 10 Those who have forgotten in a state of intoxication. 11 They ask, “When will be the Day of Judgement?” 12 On that Day they shall be tried at the Fire, 13 (And it will be said unto them): Taste your torment (which ye inflicted). This is what ye sought to hasten. 14 As to the Righteous, they will be in the midst of Gardens and Springs, 15 Taking joy in the things which their Lord gives them, because, before then, they lived a good life. 16 They used to sleep but little of the night, 17 And in the hour of early dawn, they (were found) praying for Forgiveness; 18 and the beggar and the outcast had a share in their wealth. 19 And on the earth there are signs for those who would be convinced. 20 And within yourselves. Can you not perceive? 21 And in the heaven lies your sustenance, and the promise you are given. 22 By the Lord of the heavens and the earth, this is certainly true even as you speak. 23
