Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection 1 and nay, I swear by the self-reproaching soul! 2 What, does man reckon We shall not gather his bones? 3 We certainly have the power to restore them even the very tips of their finger. 4 Nay! (Man denies Resurrection and Reckoning. So) he desires to continue committing sins. 5 He questions: "When is the Day of Resurrection?" 6 When, then, the sight shall be confounded. 7 And the moon will be eclipsed. 8 And the sun and the moon shall be joined. 9 Man shall say on that day: Whither to fly to? 10 But nay: no refuge [for thee, O man]! 11 Upon that day the recourse shall be to thy Lord. 12 On that day, man will be informed of all what he sent ahead and left behind. 13 But lo, man is well aware of himself, 14 even though he might make up excuses. 15 Move not thy tongue with it to hasten it; 16 It is for Us to collect it and to give you (O Muhammad SAW) the ability to recite it (the Quran), 17 Thus, when We recite it, follow thou its wording [with all thy mind]: 18 and then, behold, it will be for Us to make its meaning clear. 19 Human beings certainly do not want to pay much attention to the Quran. In fact, they love the worldly life 20 and give no thought to the life to come [and to Judgment Day]! 21 Some faces on that Day will be fresh and resplendent, 22 gazing upon their Lord; 23 And [some] faces, that Day, will be contorted, 24 Knowing that they will be subjected to a torment that breaks the backs. 25 NAY, but when [the last breath] comes up to the throat [of a dying man,] 26 and it is said, 'Who is an enchanter?' 27 And he (the dying person) will conclude that it was (the time) of departing (death); 28 And one shin will curl up with the other shin. 29 on that Day he will be driven towards your Lord! 30
