The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 This is a fact. Their Lord is Well-Aware of (all that they do). 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 And by oath of the moon when it is full. 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 And when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate? (Command of Prostration # 13) ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 Therefore, give them the news of a painful punishment. 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
