The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the pluckers (the angels of death), violently plucking (the souls of the unbelievers), 1 By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed); 2 By the lone stars floating, 3 and those that outstrip suddenly 4 And by those angels who arrange to do the Commands of their Lord, (so verily, you disbelievers will be called to account). 5 On the Day (when the first blowing of the Trumpet is blown), the earth and the mountains will shake violently (and everybody will die), 6 followed by the succeeding, 7 On that Day some hearts shall tremble (with fright), 8 and eyes will be humbly cast down. 9 [And yet,] some say: "What! Are we indeed to be restored to our former state 10 "What! - when we shall have become rotten bones?" 11 They say: "It would in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 So that is not but a single shout. 13 and behold! They will all come out in the open. 14 Has Moses' story reached you? 15 When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 saying 'Go to Pharaoh, he has become exceedingly insolent, 17 Then say thou: wouldst thou to be purified? 18 "'And that I guide thee to thy Lord, so thou shouldst fear Him?'" 19 And thereupon he [went to Pharaoh and] made him aware of the great wonder [of God's grace]. 20 But Pharaoh denied and disobeyed. 21 and then he turned back to have recourse to his craftiness, 22 and gathered his people together 23 “I am the supreme lord of you all.” 24 And thereupon God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world. 25 Most surely there is in this a lesson to him who fears. 26
