The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 shall call for destruction 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah]. 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 But for those who believe and do good works; for them there shall be a never-ending reward. 25
