Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 On that Day, there shall be downcast faces, 2 Labouring (hard), weary,- 3 Entering into burning fire, 4 that is fueled from a tremendously hot fountain, 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 Therein will be a running spring, 12 Therein will be thrones raised high, 13 and goblets set at hand, 14 And cushions lined up 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 DO, THEN, they [who deny resurrection] never gaze at the clouds pregnant with water, [and observe] how they are created? 17 And the heaven – how it has been raised? 18 And the mountains – how they have been established? 19 And the earth, how it is made a vast expanse? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 thou art not charged to oversee them. 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 Surely to Us is their return; 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
