The people of Lut belied the sent ones. 160 Recall, when their brother Lot said to them: "Have you no fear? 161 Surely I am a faithful apostle to you; 162 So fear Allah, and obey me. 163 I ask of you no wage for this; my wage is only with the Lord of the Worlds. 164 What, of all creation will you go to (fornicate with) the males, 165 And leave the wives your Lord created for you? Nay, but ye are froward folk. 166 Said they: "Indeed, If thou desist not, O Lot, thou wilt most certainly be expelled [from this township]!" 167 He said: verily I am of those who abhor your work. 168 [And then he prayed:] "O my Sustainer! Save me and my household from all that they are doing!" 169 So We delivered him and his household all. 170 Except an old woman who lingered behind. 171 Then We destroyed the others. 172 And We showered a rain upon them; so what a wretched rain for those who were warned! 173 Indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not Muslims. 174 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 175
