The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the great tidings! 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 Nay, again, they will come to know! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.). 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 and the night as a cover, 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
