The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
All praise is to Allah Who sent down the Book upon His bondman, and has not kept any deviation in it. 1 so that he could warn them of His stern retribution, give the glad news of the best and everlasting reward to the righteously striving believers, 2 wherein they will remain [in a state of bliss] forever. 3 Further, that He may warn those (also) who say, "Allah hath begotten a son": 4 No knowledge thereof have they, nor had their fathers. Odious is the word that cometh out of their mouths; they say not but a lie. 5 Yet perchance, if they do not believe in this tiding, you will consume yourself with grief and follow after them. 6 Surely We have made whatever is on the earth an embellishment for it, so that We may try them (as to) which of them is best in works. 7 In the ultimate, We shall reduce all that is on the earth to a barren plain. 8 Or dost thou think the Men of the Cave and Er-Rakeem were among Our signs a wonder? 9 [Mention] when the youths retreated to the cave and said, "Our Lord, grant us from Yourself mercy and prepare for us from our affair right guidance." 10 We lulled them to sleep in that cave for a number of years 11 Afterwards. We raised them up again, that We might know which of the two parties would better calculate the while they had tarried. 12
