۞ [And God will thus command:] "Assemble all those who were bent on evildoing, together with others of their ilk and [with] all that they were wont to worship 22 Other than God," (the angels will be told), "then show them the way to Hell, 23 And halt them so that they may be questioned. 24 What is the matter with you that you do not help each other? 25 Nay, but on that Day they would willingly surrender [to God]; 26 And they will approach one another blaming each other. 27 They will say: "It was you who used to come to us from the right side [i.e. from the right side of one of us and beautify for us every evil, order us for polytheism, and stop us from the truth i.e. Islamic Monotheism and from every good deed]." 28 The oppressors will say, "Rather, you [yourselves] were not believers, 29 we had no authority over you; no, you were an insolent people. 30 The statement of Our Lord is realized against us, and we are tasting it, 31 we perverted you, indeed, we were perverts' 32 Truly, that Day, they will (all) share in the Penalty. 33 that is how We deal with evil-doers. 34 Verily when it was said unto them: there is no god but Allah, they ever grew stiff-necked. 35 And (they) said: "Are we going to abandon our aliha (gods) for the sake of a mad poet? 36 Rather, the Prophet has come with the truth and confirmed the [previous] messengers. 37 Lo! (now) verily ye taste the painful doom - 38 but you shall not be recompensed except for what you were doing. 39 Save single-minded slaves of Allah; 40 will have their determined sustenance 41 a variety of delicious fruits; and they shall be honoured 42 (They will live) in the bountiful gardens, 43 on couches facing each other. 44 Round shall be passed a cup unto them filled with limpid drink: 45 White, delicious to the drinkers, 46 there is neither sickness in it, nor intoxication. 47 And with them shall be those who restrain the eyes, having beautiful eyes; 48 (Pure) as they were hidden eggs (of the ostrich). 49 And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other. 50 One of them will start the talk and say: "I had an intimate companion (on the earth), 51 'Do you believe in the Day of Judgment? 52 "(That) when we die and become dust and bones, shall we indeed (be raised up) to receive reward or punishment (according to our deeds)?" 53 He will say, "Would you [care to] look?" 54 Then he will look and see him in the midst of the Fire. 55 and says: "By God! Verily, thou hast almost destroyed me [too, O my erstwhile companion] 56 And had it not been for the favor of my Lord, I would certainly have been among those brought up. 57 Then, are we not to die 58 except for our first death? Are we not going to be punished? 59 Truly, this is the supreme success! 60 For the like of this let the workers work. 61 Is Paradise a better accommodation or the tree of zaqqum? 62 We have made this (tree) a trial for the evildoers. 63 It is a tree that grows at the bottom of Hell. 64 its spathes are like the heads of satans 65 The dwellers of hell will eat that fruit and fill-up their bellies. 66 then on top of it they have a brew of boiling water, 67 They can only return to hell. 68 for, behold, they found their forebears on a wrong way, 69 So they hastily follow their footsteps! 70 And there had already strayed before them most of the former peoples, 71 But We sent aforetime, among them, (messengers) to admonish them;- 72 See how those who were warned met their end! 73 Save the bondmen of Allah sincere. 74
