AND HAS the story of Abraham's honoured guests ever come within thy ken? 24 When they came to him and said, “Peace”; he answered, “Peace”; and thought, “These people are not familiar.” 25 Then he turned to his household, so brought out a roasted calf [as the property of Ibrahim (Abraham) was mainly cows]. 26 He set it before them, saying: 'Will you not eat' 27 Then he conceived a fear about them, and they said: 'Have no fear', and gave him the glad tidings that he was to have a knowledgeable son. 28 Then his wife came forward, crying and beating her brow. She said, "I am surely a barren, old woman." 29 "Such is the will of your Lord," they replied. "He is the Wise, the All Knowing." 30 ۞ [Abraham] said, "Then what is your business [here], O messengers?" 31 They said: "We have been sent to a wicked people 32 to let loose upon them stone-hard blows of chastisement, 33 Marked by your Lord for the Musrifun (polytheists, criminals, sinners those who trespass Allah's set limits in evil-doings by committing great sins). 34 We saved the believers among them, 35 but We found not therein except one house of those that have surrendered themselves. 36 And We left therein a sign for those who fear the painful punishment. 37 And in Moses [was a sign], when We sent him to Pharaoh with clear authority. 38 But Pharaoh turned away, showing arrogance on account of his power, and said (about Moses): “He is either a sorcerer or a madman.” 39 So We seized him and his hosts and flung them in the sea, for he was reprobate. 40 And also in Ad, when We loosed against them the withering wind 41 and it destroyed everything over which it passed and reduced it to dust. 42 There is also a Sign for you in (the story of) Thamud. They were told: “Enjoy yourselves for a while.” 43 But they were insolent toward the command of their Lord, so the thunderbolt seized them while they were looking on. 44 So they were not able to stand, nor could they help themselves. 45 And before them, We destroyed the people of Nooh; they were indeed a sinning nation. 46
