The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 and clustered bananas, 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 And water everflowing. 31 and fruit abounding, 32 undiminished and never denied 33 on raised couches. 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 loving and of equal age. 37 For those on the right. 38
