The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 About the great tidings! 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 And made your sleep a rest. 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 A fitting recompense (for them). 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30
