Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 Labouring (hard), weary,- 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 They will be given drink from a boiling spring. 5 They will have no food other than bitter and thorny fruit 6 Which will neither fatten nor avail against hunger. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 In the high empyrean, 10 wherein thou wilt hear no empty talk. 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 and goblets set at hand, 14 and cushions ranged, 15 and carpets outspread. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 and on the mountains, how they are firmly set up, 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves – 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Certainly, it is to Us that they will return. 25 Then it will be for Us to call them to account. 26
