Hoarding (Al-Takaathur)

8 verses, revealed in Mecca after Bounty (Al-Kawthar) before Charity (Al-Maa'oon)

In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful

The craving for excess wealth kept you people neglectful. 1 till you reached the grave. 2 No indeed; but soon you shall know. 3 Again, no indeed; but soon you shall know. 4 Nay, if you could but understand [it] with an understanding [born] of certainty, 5 You will surely see the Hellfire. 6 In the end you will indeed, most surely, behold it with the eye of certainty: 7 Then, on that Day, you shall be asked about the delight (you indulged in, in this world)! 8

True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
