So remind [O Muhammad], for you are not, by the favor of your Lord, a soothsayer or a madman. 29 Or do they say:- "A Poet! we await for him some calamity (hatched) by Time!" 30 Say thou: wait verily I am, with you, among the waiters. 31 is it their minds that prompt them [to say] this, or are they merely insolent people? 32 Or say they: he hath fabricated it: aye they will not believe. 33 Then let them bring an announcement like it if they are truthful. 34 Or were they created without there being anything, or are they the creators? 35 [And] have they created the heavens and the earth? Nay, but they have no certainty of anything! 36 Are with them the treasures of thy Lord! or are they the dispensers? 37 Or do they have a ladder (climbing which) they can hear (the secrets of heaven)? Let one who has heard then bring a clear proof. 38 Or has He daughters while you have sons? 39 Or askest thou (Muhammad) a fee from them so that they are plunged in debt? 40 Is with them the Unseen, and they write it down! 41 Or do they intend a plot (against thee)? But those who defy Allah are themselves involved in a Plot! 42 Is theirs a god beside Allah? Hallowed be Allah from that which they associate! 43 AND YET, if they [who refuse to see the truth] were to see part of the sky falling down, they would [only] say: "[It is but] a mass of clouds!" 44 So leave them until they meet their Day in which they will be struck insensible - 45 A Day whereon their plotting will avail them not at all, nor will they be succoured. 46 Surely there are other torments besides this for those who are wicked, though most of them do not know. 47 Now await in patience the command of thy Lord: for verily thou art in Our eyes: and celebrate the praises of thy Lord the while thou standest forth, 48 and exalt Him in the night and at the declining of the stars. 49
