The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
O YOU ENFOLDED in your mantle (of reform), 1 Arise and warn, 2 And thine Lord magnify! 3 Purify your inner self, 4 And pollution shun. 5 and bestow not favour in order to seek from others a greater return, 6 And for the sake of your Lord, patiently endure. 7 When the trumpet is sounded,. 8 Truly, that Day will be a Hard Day. 9 not an easy day for the unbelievers. 10 Let Me alone with him whom I created lonely. 11 And then granted him resources in abundance. 12 and sons ever present with him, 13 And for whom I smoothed everything. 14 Yet he wants that I should give him more. 15 Nay! He is forward unto Our signs; 16 I shall inflict on him hardship, 17 Indeed, he thought and deliberated. 18 Ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 19 And once more let him be cursed, how he plotted! 20 Then he looked, 21 Then he frowned and scowled; 22 Then turned his back and waxed proud, 23 and said: “This (Qur'an) is merely a sorcery of yore; 24 'this is nothing but mortal speech.' 25 Him shall I soon roast in Hell. 26 And what can make you know what is Saqar? 27 It spares not, neither leaves alone 28 Darkening and changing the colour of man! 29 over it are nineteen. 30 And We have set none but angels as Guardians of the Fire; and We have fixed their number only as a trial for Unbelievers,- in order that the People of the Book may arrive at certainty, and the Believers may increase in Faith,- and that no doubts may be left for the People of the Book and the Believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the Unbelievers may say, "What symbol doth Allah intend by this?" Thus doth Allah leave to stray whom He pleaseth, and guide whom He pleaseth: and none can know the forces of thy Lord, except He and this is no other than a warning to mankind. 31
