The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the heavens and al-tariq. 1 And what shall teach thee what is the night-star? 2 It is the star shining brightly. 3 There is not a soul but over it is a keeper. 4 So let man consider of what he is created: 5 He has been created from an ejected drop of fluid 6 issuing from between the loins [of man] and the pelvic arch [of woman]. 7 God has certainly power to bring him back (from the dead). 8 On the Day when secrets are disclosed, 9 (Man) will have no power, and no helper. 10 By oath of the sky from which comes down the rain. 11 And the earth which splitteth (with the growth of trees and plants) 12 Most surely it is a decisive word, 13 not a flippant jest. 14 Surely they will make a scheme, 15 And I am planning a scheme. 16 So respite the unbelievers; delay with them awhile. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
