(The tribe of) A'ad denied the messengers (of Allah). 123 When their brother Hud said unto them: Will ye not ward off (evil)? 124 I have been sent as a trusted messenger to you. 125 So fear Allah and obey me. 126 "No reward do I ask of you for it (my Message of Islamic Monotheism), my reward is only from the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns, and all that exists). 127 "Do you build high palaces on every high place, while you do not live in them? 128 And take for yourselves palaces and fortresses that you might abide eternally? 129 "And when you seize, seize you as tyrants? 130 So be fearful of God and follow me. 131 fear Him who has aided you with all that you know -- 132 "Freely has He bestowed on you cattle and sons,- 133 and gardens, and springs -- 134 indeed, I fear for you the torment of an awful day." 135 They said, “It is the same for us, whether you advise us or not be of the preachers.” 136 "This is no other than the false-tales and religion of the ancients, [Tafsir At-Tabari, Vol. 19, Page 97] 137 And we are not to be punished." 138 So they rejected him, and We destroyed them. Verily in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe. 139 Verily your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Most Compassionate. 140
