[AND] the dwellers of the wooded dales [of Madyan] gave the lie to [one of God's] message-bearers 176 Recall, when Shuayb said to them: "Have you no fear? 177 I am a trustworthy Messengers. 178 I ask of you no wage for this; 179 "No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the Lord of the Worlds. 180 ۞ Give full measure, and be not of those who cause others to lose. 181 and weigh with the straight balance, 182 and do not deliver short, and do not go about creating mischief in the land, 183 but be conscious of Him who has created you, just as [He created] those countless generations of old!" 184 They said: thou art but of the bewitched; 185 You are only a human being like ourselves. Indeed we think you are a liar. 186 So cause a fragment of the sky to fall on us, if you are truthful." 187 He said: "My Lord knows best what ye do." 188 Then they branded him a liar, whereupon the chastisement of the Day of Canopy overtook them. It was the chastisement of a very awesome day. 189 Verily, in this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 190 And indeed your Lord only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 191
