Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The true event! 1 What is the Inevitable Hour? 2 And what would make you realize what the sure calamity is! 3 The tribes of Thamud and A’ad denied the event of great dismay. (The Day of Resurrection) 4 So destroyed were the Thamud by a storm of thunder and lightning; 5 The Ads were destroyed by a swift, destructive gale 6 which He willed against them for seven nights and eight days without cease, so that in the end thou couldst see those people laid low [in death,] as though they were so many [uprooted] trunks of hollow palm trees: 7 So do you see any survivor among them? 8 Pharoah and those before him and the inhabitants of the overthrown cities persistently committed grave sins. 9 And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, so He seized them with a seizure exceeding [in severity]. 10 When the water rose in flood, We bore you in the ark, 11 as a lesson for you, but only attentive ears will retain it. 12 When a single blast is blown on the trumpet, 13 when the earth with all its mountains is lifted up and crushed with a single blow, 14 then, on that day, the Terror shall come to pass, 15 when the sky will be rent asunder, the grip holding it together having loosened on that Day, 16 And the angels will be on the sides thereof, and eight will uphold the Throne of thy Lord that day, above them. 17 You will then be set before Him, and not one of you will remain unexposed. 18 Then, he who is given his book in his right hand will say: 'Here, take and read my book! 19 Certainly I thought that I should encounter my reckoning.' 20 He is therefore in the desired serenity. 21 In a lofty Paradise, 22 Clusters whereof shall be near at hand. 23 [They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you put forth in the days past." 24 And he that will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "Ah! Would that my Record had not been given to me! 25 and knew nothing of my reckoning. 26 “Alas, if only it had been just death.” 27 My wealth has not availed me, 28 my authority is gone from me.' 29 [Allah will say], "Seize him and shackle him. 30 "And burn ye him in the Blazing Fire. 31 then in a chain seventy arm's lengths long insert him. 32 they did not believe in the great God, 33 And urged not on the feeding of the wretched. 34 “So he does not have any friend here this day.” 35 neither any food saving foul pus, 36 Which none but the wrongdoers eat. 37
