The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
(On the day) when the sun is made to cease shining, 1 When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 2 and when the mountains are made to vanish, 3 And when the she-camels big with young shall be abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together; 5 And when the seas shall become as blazing Fire or shall overflow; 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 And when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 for what sin she was killed, 9 And when the pages are laid open, 10 when heaven is stripped, 11 and Hell is stoked, 12 And when Paradise is brought near, 13 A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]. 14 No! I swear by the slinkers, 15 And by the planets that move swiftly and hide themselves, 16 And by the night as it departs; 17 And the breath of morning 18 Verily it is a Word brought by a messenger honoured, 19 [Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position], 20 Obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy. 21 Your companion (Muhammad) does not suffer from any mental illness 22 And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon. 23 He is not chary of making public what is unknown. 24 Nor is this [message] the word of any satanic force accursed. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 It is nothing but Good Counsel for everyone in the world, 27 for everyone of you who wishes to follow the Straight Way; 28 However, you will not be able to choose anything unless God, Lord of the Universe wills it to be so. 29
