The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Ruin is for the defrauders. (Those who measure less.) 1 Those who when they take the measure from others, take it in full! 2 Whilst when they measure or weigh for them, give less. 3 Do such (men) not consider that they will be raised again 4 on a Great Day, 5 The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 Nay, but the record of the vile is in Sijjin - 7 And what do you know, how (wretched) the Sijjeen is! 8 A Register inscribed. 9 Woe, that Day, to those who deny [(Allah, His Angels, His Books, His Messengers, the Day of Resurrection, and Al-Qadar (Divine Preordainments)]. 10 those who deny the Day of Judgement. 11 Yet none gives the lie to it except the transgressor immersed in sin; 12 When Our communications are recited to him, he says: Stories of those of yore. 13 Not at all – but rather their earnings have heaped rust upon their hearts. 14 No indeed! On that Day they will be screened off from seeing their Lord, 15 Then they shall roast in Hell, 16 Then shall it be said: This is what you gave the lie to. 17 No indeed; the book of the pious is in Illiyun; 18 And what will make thee know whatsoever the record in Illiyun is? 19 A record of good deeds written. 20 Which is witnessed by those brought near [to Allah]. 21 Indeed the virtuous are in serenity. 22 [resting on couches, they will look up [to God]: 23 On their faces you will see the glow of beatitude. 24 They will be given pure wine to drink, which is kept preserved, sealed. 25 its seal will be of musk -- for this let the aspirants aspire -- 26 and whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 a source [of bliss] whereof those who are drawn close unto God shall drink. 28 Verily! (During the worldly life) those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed. 29 When passing by them, they would wink at one another 30 and when they returned to their own people, they would speak of them jestingly; 31 And when they saw them, they said: verily these are the strayed ones. 32 though they were not sent to be their keepers -- 33 so today those who believe shall [be able to] laugh at those who denied the truth 34 On high couches, gazing. 35 Have the unbelievers been rewarded for what they did? 36
