Said the Chiefs of the people of Pharaoh: "This is indeed a sorcerer well-versed. 109 who seeks to drive you from your land!" Pharaoh said, "What then do you advise?" 110 They said: Put him off and his brother, and send collectors into the cities: 111 to bring together at the Pharaohs court all the skillful magicians. 112 The magicians came to the Pharaoh and said: "Is there reward for us if we succeed?" 113 He said: yea! and verily ye shall be of those brought nigh. 114 They said: O Musa! will you cast, or shall we be the first to cast? 115 He answered: "You throw [first]." And when they threw down [their staffs,] they cast a spell upon the people's eyes, and struck them with awe, and produced mighty sorcery. 116 We inspired Moses to throw his staff, and suddenly it began to swallow-up all that the magicians had (falsely) invented. 117 ۞ Thus truth was confirmed, and all that they did was made of no effect. 118 So the (great ones) were vanquished there and then, and were made to look small. 119 and the sorcerers prostrated themselves, 120 They said, “We have accepted faith in the Lord Of The Creation.” 121 the Lord of Moses and Aaron!" 122 Said Pharaoh, "You believed in him before I gave you permission. Indeed, this is a conspiracy which you conspired in the city to expel therefrom its people. But you are going to know. 123 "Surely, I will cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, then I will crucify you all." 124 They replied, "We shall surely return to our Lord. 125 for thou takest vengeance on us only because we have come to believe in our Sustainer's messages as soon as they came to us. O our Sustainer! Shower us with patience in adversity, and make us die as men who have surrendered themselves unto Thee!" 126
