(O Prophet), did you see him who turned away (from the Path of Allah), 33 who at first gave a little, then later held back? 34 What! Has he knowledge of the Unseen so that he can see? 35 Or is he not informed with what is in the Pages (Scripture) of Musa (Moses), 36 And of Abraham who fulfilled his trust? -- 37 that no bearer of burdens shall be made to bear another's burden; 38 And that man hath only that for which he maketh effort, 39 and that [the fruit of] his striving shall soon be seen; 40 Thereafter he shall be recompensed therefor with the fullest recompense. 41 And that unto thy Lord is the goal. 42 And that it is He Who made (you) laugh and made (you) cry? 43 And that He it is Who giveth death and giveth life; 44 and that it is He who created pairs, the male and the female, 45 From seed when it is emitted. 46 And that [incumbent] upon Him is the next creation 47 and that it is He who gives wealth and riches, 48 And that He is the Lord of the Sirius; 49 And that He destroyed the former 'A-ad. 50 Thamud, 51 as well as the people of Noah before them - [since,] verily, they all had been most willful in their evildoing and most overweening 52 And He brought perdition upon the subverted cities 53 Then covered them with that which covered them. 54 So O listener! Which favour of your Lord will you doubt? 55 This is a warner of the warners of old. 56 There hath approached the approaching Hour. 57 None besides Allah can avert it, (or advance it, or delay it). 58 Do ye then wonder at this recital? 59 Or do you laugh, and do you not weep 60 indulging in carelessly idle games? 61 So prostrate to Allah and worship [Him]. ۩ 62
