The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 About which they have been differing? 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 And made the night as clothing 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 [So We shall say], "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
