Have you heard the story of Abraham's honoured guests? 24 When they came to him and said, “Peace”; he answered, “Peace”; and thought, “These people are not familiar.” 25 He went quietly to his wife and returned to his guests with a fat, roasted calf. 26 He placed it before them. Then he said, "Why are you not eating?" 27 beginning to be afraid of them. But they said, "Don't be afraid"; and they gave him the good news of a son who would be endowed with knowledge. 28 So his wife came screaming, and striking her forehead cried, “What! For a barren old woman?” 29 They said, "This is true but your Lord has said, (that you will have a son); He is All-wise and All-knowing". 30 ۞ (Abraham) said: "And what, O ye Messengers, is your errand (now)?" 31 They said: "We have been sent to a wicked people 32 to let loose upon them stone-hard blows of chastisement, 33 marked by your Lord upon those who go beyond the limits.” 34 We saved the believers among them, 35 But We did not find therein save a (single) house of those who submitted (the Muslims). 36 And We left therein a sign for those who fear the afflictive torment. 37 And in Musa also was a lesson, when We sent him unto Fir'awn with authority manifest. 38 But he turned away with his forces and said: A magician or a mad man. 39 So We seized him and his hosts and hurled them into the sea and he was blamable. 40 And [you have the same message] in [what happened to the tribe of] Ad, when We let loose against them that life-destroying wind 41 It left not aught whereon it came but it made it as matter decayed. 42 In the Thamud [there was another sign], when they were told, "Make the most of your lives for a while." 43 But they were insolent toward the command of their Lord, so the thunderbolt seized them while they were looking on. 44 They were unable to stand up, nor were they helped. 45 And the people of Nuh We destroyed aforetime; verily they were a people transgressing. 46
