Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 roasting at a scorching Fire 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 (Other) faces on that day shall be happy, 8 well pleased with their striving, 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 Where they hear no idle speech, 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 Cushions arranged, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 And the mountains – how they have been established? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 But if any turn away and reject Allah,- 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their return; 25 and verily, It is for Us to call them to account. 26
