The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Read with the name of your Lord Who created, 1 created man from a clot [of blood]. 2 Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 Who taught (to write) with the pen 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 Yet man behaves arrogantly, 6 Because he considers himself self-sufficient. 7 Surely your returning is to your Lord. 8 What do you think? Have you seen he who forbids 9 A votary when he turns to his devotions? 10 Have you considered if he were on the right way, 11 Or enjoins piety? 12 Hast thou considered whether he may [not] be giving the lie to the truth and turning his back [upon it]? 13 Does he not know that Allah sees? 14 Let him know that if he does not desist, We shall certainly drag him by his forelocks, 15 A forelock that lies, is sinful. 16 Then, let him call (for help) to his council (of comrades): 17 We shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 Nay, pay thou no heed to him, but prostrate thyself [before God] and draw close [unto Him]! ۩ 19
Almighty God's Truth.
