'Aad denied the messengers 123 When their brother Hud said to them: "Will you not fear Allah and obey Him? 124 Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger. 125 Fear Allah and obey me. 126 "No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the Lord of the Worlds. 127 "Will you, in your wanton folly, build [idolatrous] altars on every height, 128 and make for yourselves mighty castles, [hoping] that you might become immortal? 129 And if ye seize by force, seize ye as tyrants? 130 So fear Allah, and obey me. 131 Have fear of Him Who has provided you with all the (good) things you know; 132 "He has aided you with cattle and children. 133 and gardens, and springs: 134 Lo! I fear for you the retribution of an awful day. 135 They replied: "It is all the same for us whether you admonish us or not. 136 This is not but the custom of the former peoples, 137 and we shall not be punished." 138 So they rejected him; and We destroyed them. There is certainly a sign in that; but most of them would not believe. 139 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 140
