Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
I swear by the wind that scatters far and wide, 1 And (the clouds) that bear heavy weight of water; 2 And (the ships) that float with ease and gentleness; 3 And those who distribute (it) by command, 4 indeed, that which you are promised is true, 5 the Judgement will surely come to pass -- 6 By the beautiful heavens, 7 surely you are deeply at variance [as to what to believe] -- 8 He is turned away from it who would be turned away. 9 Woe to the liars 10 Those who (flounder) heedless in a flood of confusion: 11 They ask, "When is the Day of Recompense?" 12 (It is) the day on which they shall be tried at the fire. 13 "Taste your trial. This is what you sought to hasten." 14 The righteous shall live among gardens and fountains, 15 receiving their reward from their Lord. They had been righteous people before the Day of Judgment. 16 They slept but a little at night, 17 And in the hour of early dawn, they (were found) praying for Forgiveness; 18 And in their wealth the beggar and the outcast had due share. 19 There are signs in the earth for those who are firm in their faith, 20 And in yourselves. Then will you not see? 21 And in the heaven is your provision and that which ye are promised. 22 So, by the Lord of the heaven and the earth, this is certainly true, as true as the fact of your speaking. 23
