Has there reached you the story of the honored guests of Abraham? - 24 When they came in to him, and said, "Salam, (peace be upon you)!" He answered; "Salam, (peace be upon you)," and said: "You are a people unknown to me," 25 Then he turned quickly to his household, brought out a fatted calf, 26 And placed it before them, (saying): "Will you not eat?" 27 Then he conceived a fear of them. They said, 'Be not afraid!' And they gave him good tidings of a cunning boy. 28 So hearing his wife went forth shouting. She struck her face and exclaimed: “A barren old woman am I.” 29 They said: "Thus said your Lord. He is indeed all-wise and all-knowing." 30 ۞ [Abraham] said, "Then what is your business [here], O messengers?" 31 They said, 'We have been sent to a people of sinners, 32 so that we bring down stones of clay upon them 33 Marked by thy Lord for (the destruction of) the wanton. 34 So We brought the believers out of that they were in. 35 for apart from one [single] house We did not find there any who had surrendered themselves to Us. 36 And We kept a sign remaining in it, for those who fear the painful punishment. 37 And in Musa (Moses) (too, there is a sign). When We sent him to Fir'aun (Pharaoh) with a manifest authority. 38 and he turned away in [the pride of] his power and said, "A sorcerer [is this Moses,] or a madman!" 39 So We took him and his soldiers and cast them into the sea, and he was blameworthy. 40 And in 'A-ad also was a lesson, when We sent against them the barren wind. 41 It left nothing whatever that it came up against, but reduced it to ruin and rottenness. 42 In the Thamud [there was another sign], when they were told, "Make the most of your lives for a while." 43 But they insolently defied the Command of their Lord: So the stunning noise (of an earthquake) seized them, even while they were looking on. 44 for they were unable even to rise, and could not defend themselves. 45 The people of Noah who lived before them were also evil doing people. 46
