Noah (Nooh)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
We sent Noah forth to his people, saying, "Warn your people before there comes upon them a grievous punishment." 1 He said: O my people! Lo! I am a plain warner unto you 2 Worship Allah, and fear Him, and obey me. 3 He will forgive your sins and will grant you respite till an appointed time. When the time appointed by God arrives, it cannot be postponed, if you only knew." 4 He said, "My Lord, indeed I invited my people [to truth] night and day. 5 But my invitation increased them not except in flight. 6 And whenever I called them, that Thou mightest forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, and wrapped them in their garments, and persisted, and waxed very proud. 7 Then I called them openly, 8 "Then verily, I proclaimed to them in public, and I have appealed to them in private, 9 And I said: ask forgiveness of your Lord; verily He is ever Most Forgiving. 10 He will send down abundant rain from the sky for you, 11 And will give you increase of wealth and sons, and give you gardens and springs of water. 12 What is [the matter] with you that you do not attribute to Allah [due] grandeur 13 who has created you in several stages? 14 Do you not see how Allah has created seven heavens, one upon the other, 15 And has placed the moon therein, an illumination, and has placed the sun, a lighted lamp? 16 ‘And it is Allah Who made you grow like vegetation from the earth.’ 17 how He will then return you to it and bring you forth again, 18 how God has spread the earth out for you 19 so that you walk in its spacious paths.' 20
