He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 But what would make you perceive, [O Muhammad], that perhaps he might be purified 3 Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 To him you attend; 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 And he fears, 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 most exalted and purified, 14 [borne] by the hands of messengers 15 noble and pious. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 Then He eased the way for him; 20 Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave; 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 We send down abundant water, 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and herbage 28 Olives and dates, 29 And thick gardens, 30 And fruits and grasses: 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 And his spouse and his son-- 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 And many will be dust-begrimed, 40 o'erspread with darkness -- 41 those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. 42
