The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] - 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 The reckoning of those whose Book of records will be given into their right hands 7 Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
