The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up; 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 when the mountains shall be set in motion, 3 And when the camels big with young are abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together; 5 And when the seas are filled with flame 6 And when the souls shall be joined with their bodies; 7 And when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 for what crime she was slain, 9 when the scrolls shall be unrolled, 10 The curtain drawn back from the skies, 11 when Hell is set ablaze, 12 when Paradise is brought close: 13 then shall each person know what he has brought along. 14 So verily, I swear by the planets that recede (i.e. disappear during the day and appear during the night). 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 by the night swarming, 17 and the morn as it softly breathes: 18 That this is indeed the word of an honoured Messenger, 19 Mighty, established in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 With authority there, (and) faithful to his trust. 21 Your companion is not one possessed: 22 he indeed saw the message-bearer on the clear horizon; 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]. 25 So where are you going? 26 This is naught else than a reminder unto creation, 27 For the one among you who wishes to become upright. 28 And you do not please except that Allah please, the Lord of the worlds. 29
