Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you? 1 Faces on that day humbled, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 They will suffer the heat of the blazing fire 4 their drink shall be from a boiling spring. 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 Glad for their effort past, 9 In a high Garden 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 Therein is a fountain flowing, 12 Therein will be thrones raised high, 13 And chosen goblets. 14 and cushions arrayed 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 And the earth, how it was spread out? 20 So, [O Prophet] exhort them: your task is only to exhort, 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 God will punish them with the greatest torment. 24 Verily, to Us will be their return; 25 Then verily on Us is their reckoning. 26
