Al-Hijjr 3 of 6
Verily We created man of potter's clay of black mud altered, 26 while We had brought the jinn into being before out of blazing fire. 27 When your Lord said to the angels: 'See, I am creating a mortal from clay of molded mud. 28 And when I have proportioned him and breathed into him of My [created] soul, then fall down to him in prostration." 29 So, the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together. 30 save Iblis; he refused to be among those bowing. 31 The Lord inquired: "Iblis! What is the matter with you that you did not join those who prostrated?" 32 He said: I am not one to prostrate myself unto a mortal whom Thou hast created out of potter's clay of black mud altered! 33 (Allah) said: 'Begone, you are accursed! 34 and [My] rejection shall be thy due until the Day of Judgment!" 35 Said [Iblis]: "Then, O my Sustainer, grant me a respite till the Day when all shall be raised from the dead!" 36 [Allah] said, "So indeed, you are of those reprieved 37 Till the Day of the Time known. 38 (satan) said: 'My Lord, for Your perverting me, I shall make (matters) in the earth seem most fair to them and I shall pervert all, 39 except those of Your servants whom You have singled out for Yourself." 40 Said Allah, “This path* leads straight towards Me.” (* The path of the chosen bondmen.) 41 verily, thou shalt have no power over My creatures - unless it be such as are [already] lost in grievous error and follow thee [of their own will]: 42 "And surely, Hell is the promised place for them all. 43 Unto it are seven portals; unto each portal is a portion of them assigned. 44

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
