And the eminent among his people who disbelieved and denied the meeting of the Hereafter while We had given them luxury in the worldly life said, "This is not but a man like yourselves. He eats of that from which you eat and drinks of what you drink. 33 "If ye obey a man like yourselves, behold, it is certain ye will be lost. 34 Does he give you a promise that when you are dead and turned to dust and bones, you will be raised to life again? 35 ۞ Far-fetched, far-fetched indeed is what you are promised! 36 This is our only life. We live and will die but we will never be brought back to life again. 37 He is only a man who invents lies against God, so have no faith in him". 38 He said, 'O my Lord, help me, for that they cry me lies.' 39 (Allah) said: "In but a little while, they are sure to be sorry!" 40 So the true Scream seized them – We therefore made them like rotten hay; so away with the unjust people! 41 Then We raised after them other generations. 42 no nation outstrips its term, nor do they put it back. 43 Then We sent Our apostles one after the other. Every time an apostle came to a people they denied him. So We made one follow the other (to its doom), and turned them into bygone tales. Cursed be the people who do not believe! 44 We then sent Moosa and his brother Haroon, with Our signs and a clear proof. 45 Unto Pharaoh and his chiefs, but they scorned (them) and they were despotic folk. 46 And they said: What! shall we believe in two mortals like ourselves while their people serve us? 47 So they belied them, and they were among the destroyed. 48 We gave Moses the Book so that they might be guided. 49 And We made the son of Marium and his mother a sign, and We gave them a shelter on a lofty ground having meadows and springs. 50
