And recite to them the story of Ibrahim. 69 [how it was] when he asked his father and his people, "What is it that you worship?" 70 They said: "We worship idols, and to them we are ever devoted." 71 He said, "Do they hear you when you supplicate? 72 or do they cause you any benefit or harm?" 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing thus (what we do)." 74 Thereupon, Abraham said: "Have you seen (with your eyes) those whom you have been worshipping, 75 You and your ancient sires. 76 They are all enemies to me; all, except the Lord of the Universe 77 who created me; and He guides me, 78 And Who feedeth me and watereth me. 79 And when I am sick, then He restores me to health 80 "And Who will cause me to die, and then will bring me to life (again); 81 It is He whom I expect to forgive my sins on the Day of Judgment. 82 My Lord: Grant me wisdom, and join me with the good 83 Make my words come true in the future. 84 Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss 85 And forgive my father. Indeed, he has been of those astray. 86 "And let me not be in disgrace on the Day when (men) will be raised up;- 87 The Day when neither wealth nor sons shall benefit 88 but only he that brings to Allah a sound heart will (attain to success)." 89 And the Garden shall be brought nigh to the God-fearing. 90 And Hell made visible to those who had gone astray. 91 who will be asked, "What did you worship 92 "Instead of Allah? Can they help you or (even) help themselves?" 93 The idol worshippers, the idols, the rebellious ones, 94 and the hosts of Iblis - all together. 95 They shall say while they contend therein: 96 'By God, we were certainly in manifest error 97 When we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 It was naught but the sinners that led us astray; 99 We have no intercessors now, 100 “Nor a caring friend.” 101 "'Now if we only had a chance of return we shall truly be of those who believe!'" 102 In all this, behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 103 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 104
