Ad cried lies to the Envoys 123 When their brother Hud said to them: "Will you not take heed? 124 Behold, I am an apostle [sent by Him] to you, [and therefore] worthy of your trust: 125 fear God, then, and obey me. 126 I ask no recompense of you for it. My reward is due from none but the Lord of all the worlds. 127 You construct monuments on every hill in vain, 128 "And do you get for yourselves palaces (fine buildings) as if you will live therein for ever. 129 and when you strike you strike like tyrants? 130 Have fear of God and obey me. 131 Keep your duty toward Him Who hath aided you with (the good things) that ye know, 132 succoured you with flocks and sons, 133 “And with gardens and water-springs.” 134 "Verily, I fear for you the torment of a Great Day." 135 They said, "Whether you preach to us or not, 136 This is but a fable of the men of old, 137 “And we will not be punished.” 138 And they denied him, so We destroyed them. Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 139 Verily your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Most Compassionate. 140
